The AFL Central West Senior Women’s season kicks off on Saturday as the Senior Men’s season rolls on into Round 3. There are some must watch matches this week as we preview the round ahead.

Round 1 Senior Women’s

Bathurst Giants vs Bathurst Bushrangers, George Park #1 12:30pm

A replay of the 2018 Preliminary Final sees the Giants host the Bushrangers. The Bushrangers will be seeking revenge after missing out on their 4th consecutive Grand Final appearance. Meanwhile, the hosts will be looking to start the year off strong as they aim to go one better in 2019.

Cowra Blues vs Parkes Panthers, Mulyan Oval 12:30pm

Usually a close affair between the two sides, Cowra host Parkes in their first game of the season. Parkes will be strengthened by the inclusion of several former Dubbo Demons players and as such, this shapes as a very exciting contest.

Round 3 Senior Men’s

Bathurst Giants vs Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws, George Park #1 2:30pm

With both teams coming into this game on the back of Round 2 defeats, this local rivalry will have plenty to play for. The Outlaws will need to adapt to the smaller GP1 after last round’s match at Waratahs. Additionally, with both teams having plenty of firepower at their disposal, we could see an old-fashioned shoot-out between the two Bathurst clubs.

Cowra Blues vs Parkes Panthers, Mulyan Oval 2:30pm

Both Cowra and Parkes are searching for their first win of the 2019 campaign. In what should be a close affair, this match provides an opportunity to gain confidence and set up their season. With Frank Bright and Brad Reid solid in attack for the Blues last game out, the question remains, can the Panthers shut down these key players and kick a winning score?

Orange Tigers vs Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels, Waratahs Oval 2:30pm

Orange, should go into this game confident after strong performances against the Panthers and Bushrangers Outlaws. They do however, play the only other unbeaten team in the competition – the Bushranger Rebels a team with three of the top four goalkickers in the competition. Containing the Rebels in-form forwards will go a long way to the Tigers coming out victorious this week.
