Here are all the results from Round 1 of the AFL Central West Senior Competition.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Giants 23. 21-159 def Dubbo Demons 8. 8-56

The Bathurst Giants have kicked off their 2021 campaign with a strong performance against the Dubbo Demons at George Park. The Giants started the game off strong kicking seven goals in the first quarter. Sam Sloan had a great day in the 103 point win, kicking six goals.  Jack Goodsell (4), Emmitt Carr-Smith (3), Bryce Cross (2), Zac Yandle (2), and Mitchell Taylor (2) all kicked multiple goals for the hosts whilst Dylan Fairall (2), Issac Heath (2), and Frank Bright (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Demons. The Giants will take on the Bathurst Bushrangers next week whilst the Demons will travel to Orange to take on the Tigers.

Bathurst Bushrangers 15.21-111 def Orange Tigers 3.8-26

The defending premiers started their 2021 season off with a win over the Orange Tigers at George Park. The first quarter was evenly matched but the Bushrangers opened up their lead in the second, kicking four goals to lead by 36 points at half time. Andrew James (4), Paul Long (2), Matthew Archer (2), and Peter Grundy (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Bushrangers while Todd Fagan (2) kicked multiple goals for the Tigers. The Bushrangers will now look to next week as they take on the Bathurst Giants, whilst the Tigers will host the Dubbo Demons.

Women

Bathurst Giants 9.4-58 def Dubbo Demons 2.7-19

In the match of the round, the defending premiers Bathurst Giants defeated the Dubbo Demons in a physical encounter at George Park. The Giants kicked five goals in the first quarter which helped give the team a buffer heading into the second quarter.Hailee Provest (3), Elise Gullifer (2), and Laycee Covington-Gorst (2) kicked multiple goals for the hosts while Lauren Hazell (2) kicked two goals for the Demons. The Giants will now look to take on the Bathurst Bushrangers next week whilst the Demons will travel to Orange to take on the Tigers.

Bathurst Bushrangers 7.10-52 def Orange Tigers 0.0-0

A tough day at George Park for the Orange Tigers as the Bathurst Bushrangers won in a dominant display of footy. The first quarter was fairly close but the Bushrangers took charge in the second with Jakira Speer (3) kicking multiple goals for the match. The Tigers will look to bounce back next week against the Dubbo Demons. The Bushrangers will take on the Giants next week week whilst the Tigers will host the Dubbo Demons.

 

Men’s Tier 2

Bathurst Giants 10.7-67 def Dubbo Demons 7.10-52

In a back and forth contest, the Bathurst Giants managed to come back from a five point deficit at the end of the third quarter to win by 15 points at George Park. The Giants took the lead early, however the Demons fought back in the second quarter, leading by one point at halftime. While the Demons held the lead into the fourth quarter, the Giants managed to turn things around and score four goals to win the game. Jordan Longmore (4) was the leading goal kicker for the Giants while Nathan Carroll (4) kicked multiple goals for the Demons. The Giants will now look to next week as they face the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels and the Dubbo Demons will take on the Cowra Blues.

Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws 11.10-76 def Orange Tigers 2.10-22

The Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws have started their 2021 season off win a convincing win over the Orange Tigers at George Park. The Outlaws came out the gates strong, leading the Tigers by 28 at halftime. Cameron Richards (7) was the leading goal kicker, while Nathan Totten (1), and Elliot Tom (1) both kicked goals for the Tigers. The Tigers will enjoy the bye in Round 2, whilst the Outlaws will face off against the Parkes Panthers.

Parkes Panthers 9.19-73 def Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels 0.1-1

The Parkes Panthers have started off their 2021 season with a convincing win over the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels at North Parkes Oval. The Panthers kicked five goals by halftime and went on to win the match by 74 points. Riley Pike (3), and Mitchell Stubberfield (2) both kicked multiple goals for the home side. The Panthers will travel to Bathurst to take on the Outlaws whilst the Rebels will take on the Bathurst Giants.
