Rep Coaches Announced!

Having moved away from the Central West, Luke Le Page leaves the Youth Girls squad in the hands of Jayarna Kay for 2021.

The coaches for AFL Central West’s representative squads have been confirmed, and whilst there are still some unfilled positions, the coaches selected are sure to do a fantastic job. Our representative squads will play at the Shoalhaven Junior carnival in Nowra across June 25-27.

Under-13s: Dale Hunter (Orange Tigers)

Dale stepped away from the Orange Tigers Men’s side after some successful years with the yellow and black, and has seamlessly stepped into the position of Tigers Under-12s coach in 2021. The squad at his disposal will be full of talented Development Squad players and we are excited to see what Dale can do with his team.

Under-15s: Carmen Armour (Dubbo Junior AFL)

Carmen brings a wealth of experience through elite and sub-elite programs, and has demonstrated outstanding team building strategies with her Dubbo Junior Under-14s team. Again, a large group of the squad will be from the Development Squad and we hope with Carmen at the helm, our talented team can do better than previously.

Under-17s: Vacant

Still yet to receive a formal application for the Under-17s position. The kids eligible have regularly played in the Shoalhaven carnival, so the successful coach won’t need to worry about the kids not knowing each other. There is still time to nominate as a coach, so if interested please contact Casey via email casey.white@afl.com.au

Youth Girls: Jayarna Kay (Bathurst Giants)

The current Western Region Academy of Sport (WRAS) coach will bring the knowledge from this program and implement at Shoalhaven, We farewelled former coach Luke Le Page who had set the standard with multiple winning carnivals. The talent at Kay’s disposal will put Central West in a great position to win again.

Women’s: Michael Sloan (Bathurst Giants)

Having formally coached junior rep football, Michael Sloan is taking the reins of the Senior Women’s team who are to play Sapphire Coast Stingrays on Saturday June 26. The inaugural AFL Central West Women’s side gave great account for themselves in 2019, leading for three-and-a-half quarters before going down to the Stingrays. Expect big things with the group of women available for Sloan’s side.

Men’s: Vacant

Like the Under-17s, there have been no nominations for the Men’s coaching position. Expressions of interest are still being taken so please contact Casey to confirm your interest.

With the coaches announced, they will begin to select a side over the coming days. It is expected that the teams will be announced on Monday May 31 or Tuesday June 1 via website and Facebook. There may be a slight delay on this with some of the sides yet to appoint a coach, so please be patient if your squad isn’t announced.
