AFL Central West Round 5 Recap

Here are all the results from Round 5 of the AFL Central West Senior Competitions.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Bushrangers 12.13-85 defeat Dubbo Demons 6.7-43

The Bathurst Bushrangers have given the Dubbo Demons their third straight loss at South Dubbo Oval this year after defeating the hosts by 42 points.

The result keeps the visitors on top of the Tier 1 competition ladder whilst the Demons remain without a win in 2021. Kolby Mcmahon (2), Alex Sparks (2), Riley Holland (2), Matthew Archer (2), and Scott Jablonskis (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Bushrangers. Joshua Anasis (2) was the sole multiple goal kicker for the hosts.

 

Bathurst Giants 9.14-68 defeat Orange Tigers 9.5-59

The Bathurst Giants survived an early first quarter scare as the visitors defeated the Tigers by 9 points in Orange.

The hosts kicked six goals unanswered in the first quarter to take an early lead but the Giants fought back, trailing by one point at the end of the third quarter. The visitors scored 23 points in the final quarter to win the game. Sam Sloan (3), and Bailey Brien (2) kicked multiple goals for the Giants. Peter Byrne (5) had a great day in front of goal alongside Todd Fagan (2) for the Tigers.

Women’s

Dubbo Demons 8.3-51 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers 5.3-33

The Dubbo Demons have remained undefeated at home as the side defeated the Bathurst Bushrangers by 18 points in Dubbo.

The visitors enjoyed a strong first half performance, leading the hosts by six points at half time. After the half though, the Demons went on a charge and kicked five second half goals to take the victory. Trudy Sloane (2), and Alicia Hafoka (2) kicked multiple goals for the hosts. Kelsey Richards (2) was the sole multiple goal scorer for the Bushrangers.

 

Bathurst Giants 9.5-59 defeat Orange Tigers 3.2-20

The Bathurst Giants remain undefeated in 2021, defeating the Orange Tigers by 39-points in Orange.

The first half remained fairly close between the two sides, as the hosts only trailed by three at the half. The second half proved a different story however, as the visitors kicked six second half goals to take the victory. Bridget Warne (2), Laycee Covington-Gorst (2), and Olivia Johnston (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Giants. Lyndell Bassett (2) was the sole multiple goal scorer for the hosts.

 

Men’s Tier 2

Orange Tigers 8.7-55 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels 7.1-43

The Orange Tigers have bounced back from last week’s loss defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels by 12-points in Orange.

The hosts led by two points at half time in what was a fairly close contest between the two sides. A strong second half by the Tigers resulted in the hosts kicking five goals and securing the victory over a valiant Rebels side. Tyson Hannus (4), and Pierce Frecklington (2) both kicked multiple goals for the hosts. Tom Regan (3) kicked a hat trick for the Rebels.

 

Parkes Panthers 28.13-181 defeat Bathurst Giants 0.1-1

The Parkes Panthers have overwhelmed a traveling Bathurst Giants side, defeating the visitors by 180 points in Parkes.

The victory secures top spot for the Panthers in the Tier 2 competition whilst the Giants drop to seventh on the ladder. Michael Livingston (6), Shane Apsey (5), Jonathan Morell (4), Braeden Snow (3), Malcolm Bruce (3), Peter Webb (2), and Lindsay Fay (2) all kicked multiple goals for the hosts.

 

Dubbo Demons defeat Cowra Blues via Forfeit
