WOMEN’S team have locked out both the Junior and Senior Team of the Year prizes in the Western Advocate Sports Awards.

You chose the Bathurst Goldminers Women’s State League Basketball side as the senior winners while the Cathedral Catholic Primary School’s AFL team came out on top in the junior race.

The Bathurst basketball community rallied behind the Goldminers, who came agonisingly close to a Women’s State League title in 2016 after going down in the grand final.

Their outgoing mentor, Jo Cafe, won by just five votes in the race for Coach of the Year. Cafe just saw off Bathurst Cycling Club coaches Marian Renshaw and Damien Bennett.

Cathedral threw plenty of support behind their AFL side after they made it through to the finals of the Paul Kelly Cup.

The Cathedral side and the Bathurst Giants champion under 18s Central West AFL team also battled for their top spot throughout the voting.
