Fixture released for Shoalhaven Junior Carnival
There’s less than a week until our AFL Central West junior representative teams journey to the South Coast for the Shoalhaven Junior Carnival. So that you don’t end up watching the wrong game, we have put together all the fixtures in one place.
Under-13s:
Coached by Steve Smith, the Under-13s will be aiming to improve on their result against Northern Riverina in early May. The team has a great deal of talent yet also several new to representative football. The Under-13s kick off their campaign in what will be for most, their first night fixture against the Sapphire Coast in what is usually an incredibly close game.
Fixture:
Sapphire Coast – Friday July 5, 7pm (West St Oval)
Shoalhaven – Saturday July 6, 9am (Nowra Showground)
Illawarra – Saturday July 6, 12:30pm (Artie Smith Oval)
TBC – Sunday July 7, Braggers 9:30am OR Final 10:30am (Nowra Showground)
Under-15s:
One of the two winning sides in West Wyalong, taking it to the last kick of the game, the Under-15s will need to bring their “A-game” to be successful in this year’s competition. If the side bring the intensity from West Wyalong with them, they will challenge, but its a tougher game against the South Coast sides. Can they build on last year’s third place finish with another strong result?
Fixture:
Sapphire Coast – Friday July 5, 7pm (Artie Smith)
Shoalhaven – Saturday July 6, 10am (Nowra Showground)
Under 15s Shoalhaven Sprint – Saturday July 6, 12:30pm (West St)
Illawarra – Saturday July 6, 1pm (West St)
TBC – Sunday July 7, Braggers 9:30am (West St) OR Final 11am (Artie Smith)
Under-17s
Jason Molentin’s side fought a tough match in West Wyalong and will look to improve on that performance over the carnival’s four matches. They have a side to match it with their opposition and following an impressive 2018 campaign will look to impress the locals. A large number of the 2018 squad are not involved this year which will make it difficult, however if their best is played, they are a chance.
Fixture:
Sapphire Coast – Friday July 5, 7:30pm (Nowra Showground)
Shoalhaven – Saturday July 6, 10am (Artie Smith)
Under 17s Shoalhaven Sprint – Saturday July 6, 12:30pm (West St)
Illawarra – Saturday July 6, 2pm (West St)
TBC – Sunday July 7, Braggers 9:30am (Artie Smith) OR Final 10:30am (West St)
Youth Girls
Runners-up in 2018, the Luke Le Page led side are always contenders at Shoalhaven and this year should be no different. They have the side to match it with the others and a good showing on Friday night will set up their campaign. As is frequently the case, the Youth Girls look to be the Central West’s best chance of bringing home the gold.
Fixture:
Shoalhaven – Friday July 5, 8pm (Artie Smith)
Illawarra – Saturday July 6, 9am (Artie Smith)
Sapphire – Saturday July 6, 3pm (Nowra Showground)
TBC – Sunday July 7, Braggers 11:30am (Nowra Showground) OR Final 12pm (Artie Smith)
