AFL Central West Round 3 Recap

Here are all the results from Round 3 of the AFL Central West Senior Competition.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Bushrangers 15.12-102 defeat Dubbo Demons 5.6-36

The Bathurst Bushrangers moved on from last week’s loss to the Giants and kicked 6 goals in the 4th quarter to run away with the 66 point victory against the Demons in Dubbo. Kolby Mcmahon (4), Grady Tapping (3), James Smith (2), and Bill Watterson (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Bushrangers side. The Bushrangers will now look for redemption from their Round 2 loss when they take on the Bathurst Giants in Bathurst whilst the Demons will look to improve when they host the Orange Tigers in Dubbo.

 

Bathurst Giants 12.7-79 defeat Orange Tigers 4.5-29

The Bathurst Giants have stayed undefeated in 2021 after defeating the Orange Tigers by 50 points in Orange. Sam Sloan (4), Leigh Monaghan (2), and Bailey Brien (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Giants whilst Todd Fagan (3) kicked a hat trick for the Tigers. The Giants will now focus their attention to Bathurst when they take on a strong Bushrangers side ready for redemption whilst the Tigers will travel to Dubbo to take on the Demons.

 

Women

Dubbo Demons 11.8-74 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers 0.1-1

The Dubbo Demons sent a message to the rest of the competition after putting on a clinical performance against the Bathurst Bushrangers in Dubbo. Lauren Hazell (5), and Emily Warner (3) both kicked multiple goals for the Demons as they won by 73 points. The Demons will host the Tigers in Round 4 whilst the Bushrangers will look to improve off the back of two defeats as they go up against the Bathurst Giants in Bathurst.

Bathurst Giants 5.2-32 defeat Orange Tigers 2.1-13

The Bathurst Giants withstood a strong 1st quarter from the Orange Tigers to comeback and win by 19 points in cold and wet conditions in Orange. Zoe Peters (2), and Olivia Johnston (2) both kicked multiple goals for the Giants. The Giants will look to face off against the Bathurst Bushrangers whilst the Tigers will look to get off the mark in season 2021 travelling away to play the Dubbo Demons.

 

Men’s Tier 2

Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels 12.10-82 defeat Dubbo Demons 5.5-35

A strong attacking performance by the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels in the first two quarters has given the side a convincing 47 point victory in Dubbo. Damien De Montemas (3), Jai Bellamy (2), Sam Flude (2), Dylan Patching (2), and Kieran Ball (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Rebels whilst Joseph Hedger had a big performance for Dubbo, kicking 4 goals for his side. A huge local derby awaits the Rebels this weekend as they face clubmates the Bushrangers Outlaws, whilst for the Demons, they host the Orange Tigers.

 

Orange Tigers 6.6-42 defeat Bathurst Giants 5.3-33

In the Match of the Round, the Orange Tigers survived the cold and wet conditions in Orange to secure the 9 point victory over the Bathurst Giants. In a scrappy and physical game, Luke Rothnie (2), Damien Caughlan (2), and Rowan McFarlane (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Tigers whilst Maximus Booth – Martinez (2) kicked a double for the Giants. The Tigers will travel to Dubbo to take on the Demons whilst the Giants will have the week off with the bye.

Match of the Round Review

 

Cowra Blues 16.10-106 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws 4.1-25

The Cowra Blues have continued their great start to the 2021 season, defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws by 81 points in Cowra. Thomas Thuaux (5), Frank Bright (4), and Brayden Harmer-Clark (2) all kicked multiple goals for the Blues whilst John Griffey (2) kicked a double for the Outlaws. The Blues will travel to Parkes to take on the Parkes Panthers in a 2020 Tier 2 Grand Final rematch whilst the Outlaws will take on the Rebels in the local derby.
