Men’s Tier 1
Dubbo Demons vs Bathurst Bushrangers
Time: 2:15pm
Ground: South Dubbo Oval
Comments: The Bushrangers will be traveling to Dubbo this weekend to take on a Demons side trying to get their season back on track. The Demons have remained winless so far this season but don’t count them out just yet. Dubbo are desperately searching for their first win and what better team to get that from then last year’s premiers. It won’t be easy though since the last time these teams played each other in Dubbo, the Bushrangers won by 42-points. This is the third meeting between the two sides, and the last time the Dees host the ‘rangers at South Dubbo Oval. They need to make this match count.
Bathurst Giants vs Orange Tigers
Time: 2:15pm
Ground: George Park #1
Comments: In the other Men’s Tier 1 game this weekend, the Bathurst Giants play host to the Orange Tigers. These two sides have had some interesting encounters already this year, so expect another cracker. The last time these two sides played was a thriller, with the Giants tightly winning by nine-points off the back of three Sam Sloan goals. Both sides should be fresh from having the long weekend off so look for them to come out the sheds ready. Our player to watch this weekend is Peter Byrne, as the Tigers forward kicked five goals when these two sides last played each other.
Women’s
Dubbo Demons vs Bathurst Bushrangers
Time: 12:30pm
Ground: South Dubbo Oval
Comments: The Dubbo Demons will be hoping to repeat their Round 5 performance when they play host to the Bathurst Bushrangers. The two sides have played each other twice so far this season, with the Demons taking both wins. The Bushrangers will be looking to bounce back from a fortnight ago, when they lost to the Orange Tigers. Look for both sides to be fresh and ready to play, especially as we look toward the second half of the season.
Bathurst Giants vs Orange Tigers (Match of the Round)
Time: 11:00am
Ground: George Park #1
Comments: The Bathurst Giants will look to stay undefeated when they play host to the Orange Tigers in the Katrina Hobby Memorial Match. Former Orange Tigers vice-captain Katrina Hobby was was one of the founding member of the Tigers’ women’s side, and was a fearless leader both on and off the field. She unfortunately passed away in November 2017 following a two-year battle with ovarian cancer.
The Tigers got their first win of the year a fortnight ago against the Bathurst Bushrangers, can they repeat that performance against the in-form Giants? The last time these two sides played, the Giants proved too strong on the day, defeating the Tigers by 39-points.
Regardless of the result on Saturday, get down to George Park and show your support for the two sides as they celebrate Katrina, and women’s footy.
Men’s Tier 2
Dubbo Demons vs Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws
Time: 11:00am
Ground: South Dubbo Oval
Comments: The Dubbo Demons play host to the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws at South Dubbo Oval. The Demons were undermanned a fortnight ago with their loss against the Bushrangers Rebels. This week they are at home, so expect a stronger performance from the Dees. The Outlaws are coming off a win a fortnight ago against the Bathurst Giants, so expect them to build on that performance and try to leave Dubbo with four points. Expect a tough game from both sides.
Bathurst Giants vs Orange Tigers
Time: 11:00am
Ground: George Park #1
Comments: Playing after the Women this weekend, the Bathurst Giants host the Orange Tigers in Tier 2 action. Both sides are coming off a loss last round so look for both sides to try and bounce back into the win column. The Giants fell short against the Outlaws whilst the Tigers were defeated by Parkes Panthers. The last time these two sides played was in Round 3, and the Tigers narrowly won by nine-points in horrendous conditions. Expect another close one this weekend.
Cowra Blues vs Parkes Panthers
Time: 2:15pm
Ground: Mulyan Oval
Comments: In the top two showdown, its the Cowra Blues hosting the Parkes Panthers at Mulyan Oval. This will be the first time the two sides play this year, as their Round 4 game was abandoned. Match sharpness will be the major query on Cowra. The Blues, haven’t played a competitive match in a month following the abandoned match, a forfeit to Dubbo and the bye before the long weekend. The Panthers will be hungry to get the win and give themselves a buffer on the ladder, so look for both sides to come out strong this weekend. Jonathan Morell will be the player to watch, as the Panthers forward kicked seven-goals a fortnight ago in their 99-point win over the Orange Tigers.
