McCloud to lead Eagles’ northern assault

Dubbo Demons premiership-winning assistant coach Tim McCloud will coach the AFL Central West Eagles Women’s Representative Team in 2025.

As announced earlier this year, the side will play representative football for the first time since 2021, competing in a tri-series against AFL North West NSW and AFL North Coast.

McCloud helped lead the all-conquering Dubbo Demons Women’s team to an 11-1 Home & Away record and two post-season victories over the Bathurst Bushrangers to claim the 2024 premiership.

Community Football & Competition Manager – AFL Central West, Casey White, was thrilled to announce McCloud as the region’s representative coach.

“Tim’s appointment is great reward for a strong 2024 season with the Dubbo Demons.”

“He presented a really strong plan for the program and the Demons’ club values, particularly their ability to integrate talented young players into the squad last season resonated well with us.”

“It’s incredibly exciting to be returning to representative football, and with Tim at the helm, we are confident that the best players in our competition will want to play for him.”

In accepting the appointment, McCloud spoke positively about having the opportunity to lead the side.

“Women’s sport is the most exciting place to be in sport at the moment, so to get to spend time with these amazing people and players is super exciting. Then, the chance to support these women and help them play some of their best footy and grow as people and players is a huge privilege.”

“My approach to coaching is to help the team enjoy playing great footy with each other. Forming a cohesive team will be the biggest challenge. If I can help them connect with one-another, they’ll have a blast playing together and have the best chance of beating both the North West and North Coast.”

Representative football returns on Saturday June 28, with the match to be played in the North West region.
