AFL Central West Round 10 Senior Preview

Round 10 of the 2021 AFL Central West Senior Competition will be held across George Park, and Waratah Sports Club on Saturday 10 July. All the action begins at 11am, please remember as AFL CW matches are organised outdoor events, patrons are required to wear masks and sign in on the available QR codes.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Bushrangers vs Dubbo Demons (Match of the Round)

Time: 2:15pm

Ground: George Park #2

In this week’s Match of the Round, the Dubbo Demons take the road to Bathurst hoping to make it four on the bounce. A win for the Bushrangers helps put the side that much closer to the Tier 1 leaders Bathurst Giants. A win for the Demons gets the side four points closer to second place.  The last time these two sides played was in Round 7, with the Demons taking the win by 38-points in Dubbo. Expect an entertaining encounter as the Bushrangers look to bounce back after their Round 7 defeat.

Bathurst Giants vs Orange Tigers

Time: 2:15pm

Ground: George Park #1

The Orange Tigers travel east to Bathurst this weekend as the side hopes to get closer to third place on the Tier 1 ladder. The Tigers currently sit four points behind third placed Dubbo Demons and a win for the visitors pushes the side ever closer to finals contention. The Giants currently sit four points clear on the top of the Tier 1 ladder so look for the side to try and put some distance between them and the second placed Bathurst Bushrangers. The last time these two sides played was in Round 7, with the Giants winning the game by 50-points. Look for both sides to try and start out strong this weekend.

Women’s

Bathurst Bushrangers vs Dubbo Demons

Time: 12:30pm

Ground: George Park #2

In a must win game for the Bathurst Bushrangers, the side plays hosts the Dubbo Demons. The Bushrangers currently trail third placed Orange Tigers by eight points, and a loss this weekend would make it even more difficult. The Demons will be looking to bounce back after a 55-point loss to the Bathurst Giants. The last time these two sides played was in Round 7, with the Demons winning the game by 47-points. Look for the Bushrangers to come out the gates strong, as the side tries to stay in finals contention.

Bathurst Giants vs Orange Tigers

Time: 12:30pm

Ground: George Park #1

The Orange Tigers travel to Bathurst this weekend hoping to end the Bathurst Giants nine game winning streak this season. The Giants have been the standout team this season, and each week the side seems to be getting even better. A Tigers win this weekend would just about cement third place for the side, as the side currently holds an eight point lead over fourth placed Bathurst Bushrangers. The last time these two sides played was in Round 7, with the Giants defeating the Tigers by 98-points. Can the Tigers cause an upset in the wet at George Park this weekend?

Men’s Tier 2

Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws vs Cowra Blues

Time: 11:00am

Ground: George Park #2

The Cowra Blues makes the trip to Bathurst this weekend to take on the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws. The Blues had a strong win last weekend, defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels by 111-points.  The Outlaws also enjoyed a win last weekend, defeating the Orange Tigers by 39-points. The last time these two sides played was in Round 3, with the Blues taking the win by 81-points. Can the Outlaws improve from their Round 3 performance this weekend?, or will the Blues travel back to Cowra with four points and a firm grasp on second position?

Bathurst Giants vs Parkes Panthers

Time: 11:00am

Ground: George Park #1

The Parkes Panthers also make the trip to Bathurst this weekend as the side looks to take on the Bathurst Giants. The Panthers will be fresh from the bye, and eager to get back out on the field playing footy. The Bathurst Giants will be bounce back after a 40-point loss to the Dubbo Demons. The last time these two sides played was Round 5, with the Panthers winning the game comfortably by 180-points. The trip to Parkes was always going to be a challenge, but on home soil, will we see an improved Giants outfit.

Orange Tigers vs Dubbo Demons

Time: 11:00am

Ground: Waratah Sports Club

Waratah’s is in need of a break after the Tigers have hosted the past two weeks in the wet and it gets some respite this week with only the one match. Dubbo were clinical and put in their best performance in defeating a travelling Bathurst Giants by 40-points last weekend. This week is a massive game for both sides, the Dees looking to stick close to the Top 3, whilst the Tigers would be aiming to get off the bottom of the ladder with a victory.
