AFL Central West Round 10 Senior Recap

Here are all the results from Round 10 of the AFL Central West Senior Competitions.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Giants 8.9-57 defeat Orange Tigers 2.2-14

An excellent fourth quarter performance from the Bathurst Giants has given the side a 43-point victory over the Orange Tigers. In wet and muddy conditions at George Park, both sides started the game out strong, with the Giants leading the Tigers by seven-points at halftime. The hosts kicked another goal in the third, which helped to give the side some breathing room going into the fourth quarter.

After the final break, the Giants kicked it up a gear, and went on to kick four-goals to seal the game. The win now puts the Giants eight-points clear of second placed Bathurst Bushrangers on the Tier 1 ladder. On the other end, the pressure to make finals is starting to build on the Tigers, who now trail third placed Dubbo Demons by eight-points.

Oscar Mann (2), Paul Jenkins (2), and Sam Sloan (2) all kicked multiple goals for the hosts.

 

Dubbo Demons 4.6-30 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers 2.8-20

The Dubbo Demons have now won four on the bounce after defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers by 10-points. In a low scoring encounter, both sides struggled to score points due to wet and muddy conditions at George Park.  After a goalless first quarter from both sides, the hosts kicked two goals in the second quarter to give them a 10-point lead at the halftime break.

The Demons were determined not to leave Bathurst without the win, and a big third quarter from the visitors resulted in three-goals to give their side the lead going into the final break. The visitors kept the momentum going in the fourth and took home the win in front of the Bushrangers faithful. The win now puts the Demons eight-points clear of fourth placed Orange Tigers on the Tier 1 ladder. A second loss to the Demons this year has left the Bushrangers falling eight-points behind the leading Bathurst Giants.

 

Women’s

Bathurst Giants 2.9-21 defeat Orange Tigers 1.1-7

The Bathurst Giants have remained undefeated this season after defeating the Orange Tigers by 14-points in wet and windy conditions at George Park. The Giants struggled early in the conditions , unable to covert their opportunities into goals. The Tigers also seemed to struggle, but a second quarter goal helped give the side a two-point lead into the halftime break.

The hosts, despite plenty of opportunities, were still struggling to kick their first goal going into the final break. Determined to keep their season long winning streak continued, the Giants kicked two fourth quarter goals to take the lead and eventually the victory.

 

Bathurst Bushrangers defeat Dubbo Demons via Forfeit

 

 

Men’s Tier 2

Parkes Panthers 9.13-67 defeat Bathurst Giants 3.0-18

A strong second half performance from the Parkes Panthers helped to give the side a convincing 49-point win over the Bathurst Giants at George Park. The opening quarter was fairly tight as both teams struggled to adapt to the wet conditions.

The opportunities started to arrive in the second, and four-goals from the Panthers helped to give the side a 12-point lead going into halftime. Parkes kicked it up a gear after the halftime break, and went on to kick five-goals to seal the game and take home the victory.

Jonathan Morell (4) had a great game, kicking four goals to help his side take home the win. Braeden Snow (2) also kicked a double on the day for the visitors.

 

Cowra Blues 5.6-36 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws 1.2-8

The Cowra Blues have made it three in a row after defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws by 28-points. In wet conditions at George Park, both teams struggled to adapt to the conditions early.

Two goals in the second quarter helped to give the Blues a 10-point lead going into the halftime break. The Blues came out ready after the halftime break, as the visitors went on to kick three more goals in the second half, ensuring the win.

Nathan Worth (2) had a good game for the visitors, kicking two majors to help his side win the game.

 

Dubbo Demons 10.4-64 defeat Orange Tigers 1.1-7

An eight-goal onslaught in the first quarter has helped the Dubbo Demons take a convincing 57-point win over the Orange Tigers at Waratah Sports Club. The Demons started the game red hot, kicking goal after goal to give themselves a 51-point lead after the first break.

A shocked Orange side kicked their first goal in the second quarter, but the Demons countered with two more goals in the second quarter to give the visitors a nine-goal lead going into the halftime break. From there, conditions worsened, and the match was abandoned during the interval with the points going to the leading Demons side.

Nathan Carroll (4), and Joseph Hedger (4) each kicked four goals to help their side take the win.
