AFL Central West Round 12 Senior Recap

Here are all the results from Round 12 of the AFL Central West Senior Competitions.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Bushrangers 16.11-107 defeat Orange Tigers 3.2-20

The Bathurst Bushrangers have delivered a dominant performance in neutral territory, defeating the Orange Tigers by 87-points at Mulyan Oval. The win helped them retain the Byrne-Long Trophy, for the 2nd consecutive season.

The Bushrangers started the game in red hot form, kicking five goals in the opening quarter to build up a 33-point lead at the first break. Orange struggled to score throughout the game, only managing to kick three-goals by the final siren compared to 16-goals for Bathurst. The loss will hurt Orange, who are currently sitting in fourth spot and trying to fight for the last finals spot against Dubbo.

Matthew Archer (8) had an outstanding day in Cowra, kicking eight goals. Michael Long (4) and Kolby Mcmahon (2) were the other multiple goal scorers. Bradley Cussans (3) kicked all of his side’s goals. Andrew James capped off another stellar outing, picking up the Byrne-Long medal adjudged best afield.

 

Bathurst Giants 12.19-91 defeat Dubbo Demons 10.4-64

The Bathurst Giants have enjoyed a successful day out in Dubbo, defeating the Demons by 27-points at South Dubbo Oval.

The hosts started the game strongly, kicking four goals in the first quarter to lead the Giants by 16-points at the first break. Bathurst bounced back in the second, and had plentiful scoring opportunities at goal to lead Dubbo by nine-points at halftime. The Giants managed to kick seven-goals in the final two quarters, securing the victory. The loss ends a four-game winning streak for Dubbo whilst the Giants still hold an eight point buffer at the top of the Tier 1 ladder.

Sam Sloan (4) had a great day in Dubbo, kicking four goals whilst Leigh Monaghan (2) and Emmitt Carr-Smith (2) both kicked multiple goals. Isaac Heath (5) kicked a bag despite the loss, whilst Joshua Anasis (4) also kicked four goals.

 

Women’s

Orange Tigers 5.8-38 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers 3.3-21

The Orange Tigers have defeated the Bathurst Bushrangers by 17-points in neutral territory at Mulyan Oval.

Orange came out of the gates strong, kicking three goals to lead the Bushrangers by 21-points at the first break. The Bushrangers bounced back in the second quarter, kicking two goals to decrease the lead to nine points. After the halftime break though, the Tigers outscored the Bushrangers two goals to one to take the victory. The win now puts Orange in a commanding position to take the last finals spot whilst the Bushrangers will need some luck in the next few weeks.

Emma Clark (2) was the lone multiple goal scorer for the Tigers.

 

Bathurst Giants 10.10-70 defeat Dubbo Demons 4.3-27

The Bathurst Giants have made it 11 in a row after defeating the Dubbo Demons by 43-points at South Dubbo Oval.

The Dees enjoyed a strong opening quarter, kicking two goals to one to lead the Giants by three-points at the first break. The Giants kicked it up another gear in the second quarter though, kicking four unanswered goals to take a 24-point lead into halftime. The Giants continued their great run of form this year, kicking five goals to two in the last two quarters to win the game.

Hailee Provest (5) had a great day in Dubbo, booting five majors.

 

Men’s Tier 2

Bathurst Giants vs Cowra Blues – Match Abandoned

 

Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels 11.10-76 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws 4.2-26

The Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels have taken club bragging rights after defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws by 50-points in the second Bushrangers derby.

The opening quarter was fairly close between the two sides, with the Rebels only leading by four-points at the first break. The Rebels steped it up a gear in the second, going on a scoring spree to take a comfortable 24-point lead into halftime. Seven more goals in the last two quarters secured the victory for the Rebels. The win helps to create an eight point buffer between the two sides with three rounds left.

Alex Sparks (6) had a day out for the Rebels, putting in a strong performance after being dropped from the ones. Tyson Smith (2) was the lone multiple goal scorer for the Outlaws.

 

Parkes Panthers 12.13-85 defeat Orange Tigers 1.4-10

The Parkes Panthers have remained undefeated after defeating the Orange Tigers by 75-points at Mulyan Oval.

In a contest played on neutral ground, the Panthers simply were too good on the day. The Panthers were outstanding on attack, outscoring Orange 12-goals to one. The victory now gives them a eight-point buffer at the top of the Tier 2 ladder. The Tigers will remain in seventh.

Braeden Snow (6) and Jonathan Morell (4) had a great day out, kicking multiple goals for Parkes.
