AFL Central West Round 13 Senior Recap

Here are all the results from Round 13 of the AFL Central West Senior Competitions.

 

Men’s Tier 1

Bathurst Giants 21.13-139 defeat Orange Tigers 0.0.4

The Bathurst Giants have delivered a dominant performance defeating the Orange Tigers by 135-points at Mulyan Oval.

The Giants were simply too good on the day, and a huge 56-point first quarter performance from the side helped to set the trend for the rest of the afternoon. The Tigers were unable to contain the Giants’ attack, with the Tier 1 leaders kicking 21 goals throughout the game. The win should just about seal first place for the Giants, whilst it may be too late for the Tigers to make a push for finals.

Sam Sloan (5) once again had a great game in front of goal. Paul Jenkins (4), Leigh Monaghan (3), Mitchell Taylor (3), Luke Macauley (2), and Benjamin Matthews (2) each kicked multiple goals for the Giants.

 

Bathurst Bushrangers 12.14-86 defeat Dubbo Demons 2.7-19

A great attacking performance from the Bathurst Bushrangers helped give the side a 67-point win over the Dubbo Demons at North Parkes Oval.

The Dees came out strong in the opening quarter, leading the Bushrangers by 2-points at the first break. The second quarter was a different story, with the Bushrangers firing on all cylinders to take a 35-point lead into halftime. The Dees were unable to contain the Bushrangers attack in the second half, with the 2020 Premiers kicking six goals to put the game out of reach. The win will just about seal second place for Bathurst whilst other results should see Dubbo comfortably take third.

Nathan Smith (3) had an impressive performance, kicking a hat trick whilst Matthew Archer (2) also had a multi-goal game.

 

Women’s

Bathurst Giants defeat Orange Tigers via Forfeit

 

Dubbo Demons 10.6-66 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers 3.3-21

The scoreline didn’t reflect the quality of footy played, but the Dubbo Demons have defeated the Bathurst Bushrangers by 45-points.

A fairly close first quarter saw both sides given chances at goal, but it was the Dees that took a 14-point lead into the first break. The second quarter saw Dubbo continue to convert on the scoreboard, kicking three goals to give the side a 33-point lead going into halftime. The Bushrangers fought back in the third quarter, managing to lower the deficit to 31-points at the final break. The Dees weren’t done though, and three more goals in the last quarter helped seal the victory. The win locks second place for Dubbo whilst despite a valiant effort, the Bushrangers will miss the finals this year.

Mikaela Cullen (3) enjoyed a great day out for Dubbo alongside Alicia Hafoka (2), and Emily Warner (2).

 

Men’s Tier 2

Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels 5.6-36 defeat Orange Tigers 5.0-30

The Bathurst Bushrangers Rebels have defeated the Orange Tigers by six-points in a back and forth contest at North Parkes Oval.

The Rebels started the game out strong, kicking the opening goal to help give the side a nine-point lead at the first break. The Tigers flipped a switch in the second quarter though, kicking three goals to take an eight-point lead into halftime. The Rebels weren’t done though, and a great third quarter performance helped give the side a six-point lead at the final break. The fourth quarter saw both sides have their chances in front goal, but the Rebels did enough to secure the victory.

Alex Sparks (4) had a great day in front of goal for the Rebels whilst Campbell Preston (2) kicked a double for Orange.

 

Cowra Blues 10.7-67 defeat Dubbo Demons 4.5-29

The Cowra Blues have secured a trip to the finals, after defeating the Dubbo Demons by 38-points at Mulyan Oval.

Both sides started strong in the opening quarter, with the Blues taking an early four-point lead into the first break. The Dees fought hard in the second quarter, outscoring Cowra to only trail by two-points at halftime. After the halftime break, the hosts seemed to have kicked into another gear, kicking two goals in the third quarter, and five goals in the final quarter to seal the victory. The win secures a finals trip for Cowra, whilst its heartbreak for the Demons, as the side will miss a trip to the finals this year.

Nathan Worth (4) had a fantastic day in front of goal for Cowra alongside Frank Bright (3), and Thomas Thuaux (3) who each kicked multiple goals. Joseph Hedger (2) was the lone multiple goal scorer for Dubbo.

 

Parkes Panthers 12.18-90 defeat Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws 1.3-9

Parkes Panthers have remained undefeated after defeating the Bathurst Bushrangers Outlaws by 81-points at North Parkes Oval.

The Panthers were simply too good, but the Outlaws stayed in the game early, only trailing by 12-points at the first break. The second quarter was a different story however, with the hosts going on a six goal scoring run with the strong breeze to lead the visitors by 52-points at halftime. The Outlaws fought back in the second half, but it wasn’t enough, with Parkes kicking four goals to one to take the victory. The win keeps the Panthers at top spot of the Tier 2 ladder whilst the Outlaws remain at fourth.

Braeden Snow (4) enjoyed a great day out in front of goal for Parkes alongside Jonathan Morell (3).
