Club Comments

With a brand new Men’s Tier 1 coach in Dean Price, Orange Tigers Secretary Kass Ings believes Price will will have a positive effect on the team this year. “He is showing what the club is looking for in a coach and is bringing the team together which is great,” Ings said.

Ings believes that despite no senior teams making the finals last season, all senior teams are capable of making finals this year. “I’m hoping both our senior Men’s and Women’s teams, looking at the numbers and players, they can definitely do it. However, Ings also admitted that there needs to be an improvement in club culture for that success to happen. “We have had to work on our club culture this year and try and bring the teams together.”

All four Orange junior teams made the grand final in 2020, and Ings is committed to making sure there are plans for the talented players to be brought into the senior teams. Ings added that you need to make sure the players feel included, so they are more likely to want to continue on. “A lot of the boys you will lose around that 15, 16 year old age group, and if you lose them, then they are gone.” Ings said.
